I’ll ease Lagos of gridlock within 90 days – New LASTMA boss
The newly appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Chris Olakpe has declared that he would become the enemy of the residents of Lagos State especially traffic offenders, saying he is ready to ease the state of gridlock within 90 days.
Olakpe, who had been invited to the House to explain the constant traffic gridlock in the state, told the lawmakers that he would re-invigorate LASTMA in three months.
Olakpe who was a retired Assistant Inspector General of police disclosed that he has in place 8-point agenda to address the challenges of traffic logjam in the state.
The 8-point approach to be adopted according to the chairman includes, operation keep moving from 6am-10pm, deepening collaboration between LASTMA and other security agencies and robust anti-corruption crusade.
Others include, robust public relations, motorcycles on fast moving, public complaints buses, LASTMA community relations committee and welfare package for LASTMA officials.
He said further that there would be strict compliance with the traffic laws in the state, saying that he has even warned his friends and relatives not to call him over any erring motorist, while promising to deal with deviant LASTMA officials.
“I am an advocate of reward for good work and punishment for evil work. I can dismiss any officer on the spot and we are going to revive LASTMA within a short period of time. We will give the authority the impetus it needs
